Here is one of the common recycling and garbage areas for village/commune Siran. From left to right: 1) reusable clothing, shoes, and household items; 2) glass; 3&4) commingled paper, plastics, tin,... 5) garbage. Continued in comments.

Here is the garbage drop. You need a access card to open the curved door which reveals a cylindrical chamber, about 1’ in diameter, and say 18..20” long. You put your bag in on its side in the chamber, and closing the hatch deposits the bag inside. This way you can’t just dump a whole bunch of junk. The garbage bin in the house matches the chamber size, so when it is good and full, you know it will fit in the chamber.

The are multiple stations in our village, some are just garbage. Or one garbage and one commingling. Here is a pair I saw in Félines-Minervois today.

Not sure, but I think this is the main Siran depot, then there are 4 to 6 smaller ones scattered around, like at clusters of newer homes outside the old village.

Here is one I saw today in Trèbes, which is on the canal.

Here is a depot in Rustiques. I saw others that were different. But you get the idea.

Béziers⁩ Square

This is the square with the statue of Pierre-Paul Riquet, who designed the Canal du Midi.

Note how rain water is directed to trees!

Garbage and Recycling!

Here is the Carte D’access aux conteneurs...

OCT14-130 - access card

The villagers get a card from the Mayor’s office, and billed evidently for how much they use.

The (first) time I took the garbage out, I didn’t know a card was needed. A villager saw me struggling with the machine, whereby he explained with gestures etc that I needed a card from the Maire’s office etc. I said I’d go back to the Maison (house) and find the card, he said “No No, Maire!”, etc.

Here’s one for Pascal Sauton.

Postal delivery via E-bikes!

I saw two more kinds of electric postal bikes, trikes. After I took the one photo of the postman, we kept seeing him on his route as we walked about the city (Uzés today?).

Laundry at LaRedorte

We went grocery shopping today in village LaRedorte. There was an outdoor laundromat in the parking lot! You could wash while you shop, or, I suppose stay comfy and secure in a car. We happened to go through Redorte this evening on The way home from Carcassonne (date?), so we stopped by the Laundry.. sure enough it was a dryer, 1€ for 10 minutes. The clincher was that there were 4 buttons - Delicat, +Moyen, ++Chaud, and +++Trés Chaud.

We have a washer dryer at Maison Siran. Reading the signs, #1 is €1, the next, #2, is a 18KG washer for €8! The small one on the end, #3, is 8KG for €4. I suspect #1 is an extractor to spin clothes mostly dry.. you take your laundry home and line dry it. European dryers suck anyway!

Somebody said what that meant .. Tony? More important things like this on Utilities page...
