Unofficial Cycle Oregon Pattern Language

The Cycle Oregon staff has decades of experience planning and operating Week Long Rides that progress from place to place. This pattern language attempts to define the set of patterns commonly used to support these rides. The patterns are primarily intended for Site Teams in the field. Other teams could be added.

Patterns have evolved over time. Pattern implementation (construction) may also change from time to time, but the goal is to have true invariant patterns, that is, patterns that summarize a property common to all possible ways of solving a stated problem.

The WEEKEND RIDE SITE (96) would use a subset of these patterns. The KICKOFF EVENT SITE (95) may have its own unique pattern, but it may reference other patterns, e.g. A-FRAMES (76), CHUTES (72), VENDOR BOOTHS (52), ... and so on.

Each of the patterns will have a separate page. Click [HERE] for a pattern template.

Disclaimer!

This project is not sanctioned by Cycle Oregon.

This is a research project. I'm compiling this index of patterns on-line and working on patterns on paper. Please send comments to me, John Miller, john@timehaven.us. I may set up a wiki to facilitate collaboration, development, and refinement of the Pattern Language after CO2015, then again I might not!
